What this is
Every federal contract is published on USAspending.gov. This site keeps the companies that received between $500,000 and $60 million in contract obligations over the last twelve months — the mid-size contractors — with their Unique Entity ID, headquarters, size category and parent company. This site keeps the companies — names that carry Inc, LLC, Corp and the like — and makes them searchable by name, type and place.
Who uses it
- Suppliers and landlords — is this company in the United States file, and since when?
- Sales teams — companies by type and place, and the newest ones.
- Owners — your own record as the source publishes it.
What it is not
Not the U.S. Department of the Treasury, and not a certificate. Individuals and names without a company word are left out. Amounts are obligations over the last twelve months on the collection date, not revenue and not a ranking. Larger and smaller contractors are not on this site. What the federal file says about a company's owner (origin, sex, veteran status) is not shown.
